I’m a Social Worker providing trauma-informed, individual psychotherapy and counselling in Toronto

A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.”

– Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person

About Me

I’m Brendan (he/him). I was born on Lake Simcoe, about an hour north of Toronto. I have lived and worked in Toronto for the last eleven years. I completed my Masters of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Toronto in 2016. I have been practicing in community, hospital, and private settings since 2013. I currently devote all of my time solely to private practice

I enjoy playing several musical instruments and being outside in nature for hiking and camping

My Experience

I have extensive experience assisting adults from diverse backgrounds in navigating low mood, anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, trauma, and/or chronic illness

My practice is anti-oppressive and trauma-informed, as well as kink allied, sex-positive, and 2SLQBTQIA+ friendly

My Style

Sessions with me are experiential in nature, with a balance between exploring the historical roots of the issue and building new skills to cope more effectively with it

I help individuals harness self knowledge to identify where they are stuck and to find ways to engage in values-based living.

Modalities

I mainly draw upon a modality called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I incorporate aspects of other mindfulness based approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT

My approach is eclectic and tailored to each individual client

Cost

Sessions are available both in-person and online depending on availability. The cost per session is $160

Payment

I accept payment by credit card, e-transfer. I can bill Greenshield, SunLife, and NIHB directly. Receipts provided for reimbursement for other providers
